Even though there were more than three gifts, I still wanted to have the appearance of three gifts when the kids came into the family room. This is how I sort of pulled that off. I brought three computer paper boxes home from work and wrapped them in their assigned paper. Then the small gifts were wrapped and placed inside the larger box. The lids just pulled off so getting into the big box was easy peasy. They were all really excited when they opened their big box to find several gifts inside.
Among some of my personal favorites from the kids' gifts this year was this Hello Kitty crayon roll. It's already tucked away in Little Sister's diaper bag along with a few mini coloring books ready for action. A funny side note about Little Sister's stocking is this: I spent lots of time this year looking at and picking up stickers for her stocking. She loves stickers. I can often find stickers for a quarter at Michael's and when I do I pick up a pack or two. Well, apparently I did that more than I thought because Christmas Eve as I pulled out stickers I realized I had almost 30 packs! I picked one of each for her since some were multiples and stashed some in my gift bags for my nephews. I'll pay closer attention to that this year. I obviously have some sort of sticker envy!
My Riley is very interested in robots right now. He's a very science-y kid and likes to put things together. It's getting more difficult for him to see, so much so that he didn't ask for any Legos this year, so I was really crossing my fingers that this would be something he could do. He LOVED it. My Dad helped him put it together out in the garage on Christmas Day. It runs on batteries and actually walks across the floor. You can change the can out for a different look. I will definitely be on the lookout for more things like this. This one was $12.99 in a specialty toy shop. (O.P. Taylors, Downtown Greenville).
This sweet little Bible was given to my girl by my aunt. I love it.
Of course there were many more things they were given and many more things I liked, but I thought I would just give you a sampling today.
We're about to cook up some Beef Lo Mein stir fry and play a very serious game of Apples to Apples. :)
God is good, all the time!

Ethan would love that bug kit! Sticker envy. Ha!
ReplyDeleteI already got you on Instagram about that robot bug - it's definitely on my list for birhtday gifts for J's friends (his bday just passed, so I'll suggest it for something to do with his ample gift cards and birthday cash).
ReplyDeleteI am so bummed that we didn't see you when we were in the area at Thanksgiving - but I ended up sick, so it was all for the best. And your boys were busy, but wow do J and Riley have very similar interests!
Here's hoping it'll work out for us to see you soon!
