We were treated to the likes of the State Fair this weekend. It's a family requirement with my Daddy and you can't really say no, unless you're Barry who doesn't "do" fairs or Jordan who was signed up to take his driver's education course. Sixteen is lurking in the November shadows. Hush. I don't want to talk about it.
What I do want to talk about is this: if you take your brown-skinned child out of the gate of the state fair and she is kicking and screaming and biting and fighting and saying "put me down, I don't want to go with you" someone might think you are kidnapping her.
That's enough talk about that.
The fair was lovely.
I did it. I spoke to a women's group last eve about our journey and my faith. I can tell you the following things: I did not loose my lunch ahead of time. I wasn't nervous, but had this unbelievable excitement and peace. No one got up and left. I was incredibly chatty. God is so very, very good to us.
I've since been asked to speak to another group and said yes without even thinking because, honestly, if I think about it, I'll probably say no.
All I know is that we all have a story to tell and hiding behind this computer screen isn't reaching people who need to hear. Real life people scare me, but I want us all to go to Heaven. Amen.
This. Somehow God never ceases to amaze me. This life that God weaves for us has some of the most amazing blessings in it. I have childhood friends, college friends, small town friends, and then there's these girls.
We have formed the sweetest friendship through this crazy Internet world. We have laughed, cried and prayed together. A few weeks ago Janie blessed us each with this amazing cuff from Farmgirl Paints to remind us each of how special we are to each other. It is a token of this beautiful tapestry of friendships here on Earth and a reflection of the treasures that await us in Heaven.
I have been so blessed by these three in the past months. This priceless friendship is one of my favorite gifts from God.
I hope your weekend was grand!
God is good, all the time!
